THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY IS THE RECOVERY!
To be CANDID: Your surgical procedure is just 25% of the entire journey; the other 75% is the recovery phase.
Therefore, planning for your recovery is equally crucial to planning the surgery itself.
TIP: Once your surgery date is confirmed, we recommend promptly scheduling your lymphatic drainage massage sessions. This proactive step ensures you secure your preferred spots, desired days, and convenient appointment times.
After surgery, the body enters into the healing process causing swelling, often noticeable within 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. This initial swelling gradually intensifies over the initial 10 to 14 days, marking the inflammatory phase of the healing journey.
Inflammation plays a natural role in the body’s healing mechanism however uncontrolled and taken care off swelling can negatively impact your results and stall the healing process. During this seemingly never-ending time, you will feel swollen like a Pufferfish or even worse, for weeks.
It is important to receive guidance which compression garments are best for you and using top quality medical grade foams.
By offering the best products and services, you can expedite the process of reducing postoperative swelling, relieving pain and tightness, and beginning to feel, see, and appreciate your transformation.
Our approach exclusively involves manual techniques; we refrain from using machines. Our hands-on approach enables us to sensitively assess the dynamics occurring beneath our touch, enabling the tissues to relax, feel for scar tissue (fibrosis) and release tension. Introducing devices too early in the healing process can potentially hinder the natural progression of healing. Premature use of such devices might extend the inflammatory state, potentially exacerbating the development of fibrosis or scar tissue.
Your recovery journey may be frustrating and challenging; at times, you might even feel hopeless and regretful.
Candid Wellness will be your support during this time, ensuring to heal well and become an even better version of yourself.

AFTER YOUR SURGERY
Some patients will experience lumpiness to the areas treated with liposuction, Smart-Lipo, or Cool Sculpting especially in the abdominal area and flanks. This is normal right after your procedure.
The lumpiness is caused by inflammation and trauma from the surgical instrument (cannula) that is used under the skin to extract the fatty tissue. The tunnels and channels which are created by the surgical instrument will fill with fluid and become swollen with both fluid and left-over fat.
This fluid and left-over fat tends to begin to harden between one week and three weeks after surgery.
There is a risk that the swelling and inflammation could turn into fibrosis, which is a permanent hardening of the area.
This process starts to develop in the proliferative stage of healing, about 21 days Post-Surgery.
Fat grafted areas will be avoided for at least 6 weeks Post-Surgery to achieve proper graft revascularization to the new area.
Recovery is the most important part of any surgery and can be tricky without the proper guidance. Cosmetic surgery procedures are planned well in advance, as should be your Post-Op After care. You have invested precious time, resources, and energy into planning your surgery. Be equally as discerning in planning your BEST recovery.
Doctors and surgeons say healing times can take anywhere from 6 months to a year but that’s without proper post-op care and proper supplies which cuts healing time down to 1-3 months.
Surgeons suggest coming in for just Manual Lymphatic Drainage 24-48 hours before the surgery date to jump start the lymph system, boost the white blood cell count and clean out your system preventing infection and reducing bruising before it even starts and mentally prepare you for recovery.
RELIEVING SYMPTOMS
What to expect from a Post-Liposuction Lymphatic Massage....
Your practitioner will incorporate various styles of massage techniques to help smooth out lumps and bumps as well as break up fibrotic (scar tissue) adhesions with negative pressure lymphatic cupping, myofascial release & decompression, dynamic hot stone application and more.
Our approach exclusively involves manual techniques; we refrain from using machines. Our hands-on approach enables us to sensitively assess the dynamics occurring beneath our touch, enabling the tissues to relax and release tension. Introducing devices too early in the healing process can potentially hinder the natural progression of healing. Premature use of such devices might extend the inflammatory state, potentially exacerbating the development of fibrosis or scar tissue.
Additionally to help reduce swelling and prevent fibrosis, your Practitioner may suggest to add customized medical grade foam-inlays underneath the faja. The benefit of these personalized paddings is that they can be washed and reused. Rest assured that at Candid Wellness, we exclusively utilize top-quality medical-grade foams and padding. We prioritize the use of these superior materials over cheaper alternatives commonly found on platforms like Amazon. By choosing our premium foams, we ensure that you experience the best results.
Many doctors prescribe Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy after liposuction or other plastic surgery procedures to make sure their patients get the best possible results from their procedure.
Post Lipo massage in the first 3 months after the procedures helps to ensure optimal results and reduce healing time. Generally, the earlier, firmer, and more frequently you receive treatments, the better the results and less painful the area will be. Without specialized post-op massage, uneven results may form.
This specialized massage procedure works well and has been demonstrated to show positive results, only after a couple of massage treatments!
Post-Lipo recovery sessions are recommended 2 to 3 times a week to achieve the best possible results. The number of sessions typically ranges from a minimum of 6 to as many as 18 or more, contingent upon the number of procedures performed, the volume of fat
removed, and your body’s individual response to the surgical trauma.
Plastic Surgery Recovery can still make a tremendous difference 6 months to a year after surgery!

WHEN TO START YOUR POST-LIPO TREATMENTS?
When To Start
Every patient is different; however, most doctors advise their patients to begin their Post-Op Care as soon as possible to obtain the best, and fastest, results.
The longer you wait, the more difficult it can be to encourage the tissue toward greater pliability, so you can really benefit from the work in those critical first few weeks after surgery.
Our Clinic does NOT provide incisional drainage therapy – It is out of Scope of Practice for Registered Massage Therapists and Certified Lymphedema Therapists.
No incisions will be opened nor bodily fluids will be pushed out of surgical incisions.
For cases where only area, such as the abdomen or legs/arms, has undergone liposuction six to twelve post-operative treatments are typically sufficient.
However, if multiple procedures were performed simultaneously, such as Lipo 360, tummy tuck, breast augmentation and fat grafting (BBL), up to 18 sessions or more might be necessary.
Secure all your treatments once your surgery date is determined.
Each Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage session is 55 minutes in length, starting with two to three sessions a week for best results. As a commitment to getting the best results and to ensure you get optimal appointments, we strongly advise to book ALL sessions at once.
